What was shaping up to be a nice soften 8 player bet mutated at the last minute into a hot sweaty 10 player fiasco with someone Pokernite had almost forgotten about coming out on top. Here's what went down:All ten of us crowded around the spotlight table and the action was abstain from the first hand. Ron had pocket AA on the third hand was it a sign that it was his night? Dannie was the first to get busted (only after he got take AA too) at the hands of his big brother and of course he rebought. Next it was Micky going broke when Michael decided it was time to act all his chips and he rebought as well. Another hour went by before another player was busted and this measure the victim was Stacy (courtesy of Dannie) who for the first measure EVER was sent to the rail FIRST. Rebuys had expired so we were down to 9. Phil who was very quiet all night was next to be sent packing when Keith finished him off at ten til 11. In all fairness the defending champ DID state before we started playing that he hadn't brought his "A Game".. so there ya go. Russell aka RS Foster was next on the chopping block as Andrew his fellow Ithaca alum swung the axe and put an early end to his night. Micky who remained separate dead throughout the night (along with Phil and I!) was next to hit the rail after building his micro-stack of 105 chips up to over 600. Unfortunately for him on his last all in Dannie had the better hand and it was the end of the line for Mick at 11:30. Not ten minutes later I looked down at AK (the best transfer I'd seen in hours) and had decided that I was pushing all in. But before I could do anything Ron took the move away from me and went all in himself. I had no choice and couldn't act any longer so I called. He flipped up QQ and it was off to the races. Much to my bruise a Q came on the flop but so did a 10 so I had a little hope. The turn came A which kept my chances alive but the river was a blank. Busted. Ron had built his stack and going into 5 way action he. Dannie and Michael were the three chipleaders with Andrew and Keith hanging in there. Also somewhere in there Ron had an amazing transfer to stay alive where he caught runner-runner to alter a straight... I don't bequeath who it was against or what the claim cards were but if any of you guys do I would love for you to write about it for the blog.. it was a GREAT hand. They played 5 handed for awhile before Andrew lost out to Michael around midnight. Michael had made a VERY good read (one of many last night) and called Andrew down to reveal his total bluff. Two alter increments later Dannie was busted by Keith the wild card sitting to his alter. Keith who had one of his beat performances to date kept making moves and gathering chips but it wasn't enough to get heads up and Ron finished him off just before 1am. Going into heads up Ron only had Michael outchipped by about 6500 to 5500 so it was still very much up in the air. They traded approve and forth for about 30 minutes before it ended. With the blinds at 400/800 it was only a be of time before they would be forced to make more aggressive moves and that exactly what happened. They traded chiplead multiple times and eventually Michael had accumulated a sizable lead until Ron came back and doubled up in what I think was basically the second to last transfer. They both had two pair but Ron's were exceed...10s and 7s vs 9s and 7s. After that Michael was crippled and Ron finished him off just before 1:30. Some facts to close things out: Ron gets his first win since measure years Tournament of Champions and jumps up the overall rankings from 15th to 10th. It's always good to see a new winner and Ron played a good bet to take home the 1st. In other overall points news. Micky manages to walk past Dan to retake 4th overall. Michael rockets past Ben to act 8th and positions himself right on the heels of the Meehan-Smith contingent. Dannie. Andrew and Keith all act up into the middle of the pack and now 10th thru 14th place are all with a few points of each other. With half of the season over the jockeying for top ten positions is heating up. I couldn't pass Phil this week but I manged to close to the gap and am now only two points back. Stacy of course remains the overall leader and is still the only player to pass the 100 point attach. CONGRATS RON ON YOUR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON!bequeath if you feel like sharing your tales from measure nights game gratify telecommunicate me and I ordain post them on the blog.... I can never remember ALL the good hands. HELP ME OUT!See you next week.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------TOURNAMENT #18 - June 21. 2007 1.
